Test DaysTest days are held on pre-determined days sanctioned by Skate Canada-Central Ontario. For complete information dates, deadlines, envelope instructions see the Test Days Quick Reference. Test days may affect regular skating times and occasionally tests will be tried during the daytime. Skaters who miss their session due to tests or competitions may make the session up on another evening. CompetitionsThe "Club" competition:This competition is open to skaters who are working on the Skate Canada Freeskate, Dance, Artistic and Skills Tests. Fun Competitions:These competitions, where the emphasis is on having fun, are open to skaters of a variety of skill levels. Invitational Competitions:Coaches take skaters to invitational competitions held elsewhere. Leaside Skating Club is very proud and supportive of Team Leaside skaters who represent the Club at external competitions. Talk to your coach if you are interested. What To Wear For CompetitionsFor competitions, skating dresses (or skirts with neat fitting tops) and tights should be worn. Boys should wear dark pants (not jeans) and neat fitting shirts or sweaters. Skaters may choose to wear a costume which reflects the theme or mood of their routine. During the practice/warm up time immediately prior to the competition, gloves and sweaters may be worn. Special ActivitiesThroughout the season all skaters will have the opportunity to participate in fun-filled, special activities suitable for their age and skill level. Notice of these events will be given well in advance. Please watch for information on the Club notice boards and in the Newsletter. Changes to ScheduleFrom time to time there may be changes to the regular schedule due to Club activities (fun activities, competitions, test etc.). The fees reflect these possible changes. |
